The learning student

Prof. dr. Jelle Jolles

Why is it that so many freshers choose an inappropriate course of study? Could it be due to the fact that their neuropsychological development will not be complete until they have passed the age of twenty (or even later in some cases)? “The learning student” is a line of research aimed at acquiring knowledge of the biological and psychosocial factors involved in choosing a course of study and in achieving academic success, and which govern excellence or underachievement. Based on the insights that they have gained concerning the functions, skills and perceptions of students, the researchers also want to improve the quality of higher education (including the associated practices).
