The learning teacher and the learning parent

Prof. dr. Jelle Jolles

How can we best mould students in teacher training programmes into the teachers of the future? What is the best way for teachers and parents to motivate and inspire? Should they give children and adolescents more freedom, or should they set limits instead? Inspire or guide? “The learning teacher and the learning parent” is a line of research in which researchers are attempting to gain insights into the biological, environmental, psychosocial, and neurocognitive factors that determine the performance of teachers and parents. Accordingly, they anticipate that they will be able to play a significant part in the professionalization of the teaching profession and in continuous education, as well as in supporting the upbringing and development process for their children and young people.
