Prof. dr. Johannes Drerup appointed guest professor

Johannes Drerup has been appointed a guest professor for the following three years for one day a week. He will combine his appointment with a professorship in Philosophy of Education at the University of Koblenz-Landau. His primary research interests lie in the fields of Philosophy of Education and Philosophy of Childhood, Moral and Political Philosophy as well as Educational Ethics and Applied Ethics.

Professor Drerup obtained his doctorate from WWU Münster in 2013 with a dissertation on “Paternalism, Perfectionism and the Limits of Liberty.” Recent publications cover a variety of issues, such as education for tolerance and democratic education, educational justice, indoctrination as well as Global Citizenship Education.

He is a  cofounder of the open access journal On Education and coedits a handbook on the philosophy of childhood (Springer), which will be published in July with J.B. Metzler. Other book projects are: an introduction to the philosophy of childhood/de Gruyter (together with Gottfried Schweiger), a book on debates in educational theory/Kohlhammer (with Jürgen Oelkers and Ulrich Binder) and a book on tolerance and education.
